Exciting News!

Hey Everyone!

I have some fun and exciting news....I've signed up with Mary Kay to become an Independent Beauty Consultant! If nursing school weren't crazy and hectic enough, I'm also going to start my own Mary Kay business!

Dusty's mom introduced me to Mary Kay because I was in some desperate need of good skin care and she got me hooked onto Mary Kay!  It has been love ever since and now I want to introduce and share with all of my friends, family, co-workers how great Mary Kay skin care/makeup can be for your skin.

Why I love Mary Kay products...
As a nursing student and CNA, I am around a lot of people for long periods of time getting up close and personal with them. My acne and overall condition of my skin was beginning to make me feel very self conscious with what my friends, co-workers and patients were seeing and I wanted a change....fast! Ever since using Mary Kay's Timewise Skin Care, I've seen drastic improvement of my acne and health of my skin. Plus, there make-up AWESOME and everything is reasonable in cost, which is perfect for myself as a college student! I've done my own little "tests" on some of the makeup products as well and they have passed with flying colors!

For example, one morning I put on my MK concealer before work and I wanted to see how long it would last. Usually with my previous concealers I've used I have had to touch up several times throughout the day. Each time I would walk into the bathroom I'd be like "YIKES! I can't believe people let me walk around looking like this!" Surprisingly, I didn't have to touch up once with my MK concealer! All of my makeup looked almost as good at 7:30 pm as when I had first applied it at 6:00 am that morning. Plus, this stuff works miracles. One minute I have a red blemish, the next minute it's gone! I was sold.

Also, the great thing about Mary Kay is that you get to "Try Before You Buy" which is great because who doesn't love samples!?!?! I know I sure do! And if I start using a product and don't like it, I can send it back to the company, no problem. I love that.

Why I'm becoming a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant....
I love the products!
And who doesn't love to earn some extra cash when they have a wedding coming up within the next year?!?!?
Besides those two obvious reasons, I just thought that this opportunity would be such a fun experience that would allow me to branch out and meet so many women while having fun pampering them with make-up and skin care products. I also love to challenge myself, give myself goals to achieve, and who doesn't want to be their own boss and run their own business?!?
You have no idea how excited I am to start my new Mary Kay business (can the starter kit get here any faster?!?! I'm dying to throw a party!)

Speaking of goals to achieve with Mary Kay, I have a few...
1) Help pay for Dusty and my wedding.
2) Earn enough for Dusty and I to go on a Honeymoon (location TBD)
3) Become a sales director and/or go to the awesome Mary Kay convention
4) Someday I want to drive this....

Heck yes!
And many, many more goals!

The great thing about being your consultant is that you can shop with me online anytime! Yep, that means 24/7, anywhere, anytime! If you live anywhere between the East and West coast, I can shop with you, ship to you and even throw virtual online parties!

All you have to do to shop with me (and Mary Kay) is to go to my personal website: www.marykay.com/haley.carroll and that's it! If you register (for free) with MY MK you can set up a profile and answer a few quick questions about your skin type, overall look you are going for and then Mary Kay and I can help you pick out the perfect products for your skin and create a wish list! How awesome is that?!?! I use that feature all the time and have found the perfect blush for my skin tone and features (shy blush).

Last thing...I really want to share with you some of my absolute favorite products that I can not live without that I know you will love!
This blush is gorgeous! It is a dusty rose color and has gold shimmer throughout so that when you apply it to your cheeks it adds a really pretty highlighting shimmer to your cheek bones. I love this blush!

This is officially my new best friend at night. Before I had this in my life, I would go to bed with my eye makeup still on and in the morning wake up looking like a raccoon. Then I would have to fight with my concealer and any products available to cover up the nasty dark circles the mascara left under my eyes. Not the case now! I use this at night before I wash my face and now I wake up in the morning without raccoon eyes. It's awesome! This is my new favorite product.

p.s. Until September 15th, if you spend $40 on Mary Kay, you get the mini Oil-Free Eye Make-Up Remover with the mini Lash Love Mascara (black)

Everything TimeWise, but more specifically the TimeWise Microdermabrasion Set!
This 2-step product you want to use only twice a week and boy does it work! The first step (refine) exfoliates your skin and then the second step (replenish) nourishes your skin so that it feels so incredibly soft and smooth. I love this product! Every time I wash my face with TimeWise and also use the Microdermabrasion set, I feel like I'm having a mini-spa day and getting a facial. I love how soft and smooth my skin feels!

Last but not least, Mary Kay Concealer!

If I were stranded on an island, this is one of the items I would have to have with me. I have never used a concealer that has covered up my blemishes, dark spots, etc so well and lasted so long. Plus you need very little of the product to get the job done. This is another one of my new best friends and I will never be without it!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! You can't even imagine how excited I am to be a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant and I can't wait to throw some parties and shop with everyone! Your love and support means so much to me :)

Remember to visit www.marykay.com/haley.carroll to start shopping with me!
Let me know when you want to have a facial party or a one-on-one consultation!

Truffle Salt Lovin'

Over the summer I have developed a love with Truffle Salt. Dusty and I went to a BBQ that was held at the end of the school year to celebrate surviving the first year of nursing school. One of my friends brought a ton of veggies, olive oil and truffle salt. She was grillin' up veggies right and left, and Dusty and I were devouring them like crazy instead of burgers or hot dogs because of the unique and delicious seasoning of the truffle salt.

This is a miracle in itself because Dusty has never been a big fan of zucchini or asparagus, let alone even go near eggplant or yellow squash! And here he is eating veggies like they are going out of style. After the BBQ I went to World Market and bought my own jar of Truffle Salt and we have been enjoying summer veggies ever since!

I must warn you, truffle salt isn't for everyone. I, myself, LOVE it and could sprinkle this stuff on anything and everything....but my dad thought it was a little too strong taste for his liking, but he is kinda weird with the things he likes and dislikes. Overall, everyone else I know that has tried it loves this stuff!

In conclusion, I just wanted to give a shout out and recommendation on a cooking product that I absolutely love and use all the time!

You can find Truffle Salt at World Market!

This is not a paid advertisement...I just love this stuff and wanted to share the love!

On a completely different note, tonight I made my Creamy Mustard Roasted Fish and used Plain Greek Yogurt instead of Creme Fraiche and I loved it so much more with the Greek Yogurt! Creme Fraiche is kinda hard to find, so I tried the Greek Yogurt out of convenience and lower cost, and it was a delicious success! The sauce was creamier and thicker, which was absolutely perfect for this dish! Don't you just love cooking? You can experiment with ingredients and discover yummy surprises!

Welcome Back!

I  don't understand how time gets away from me so fast!

Has it really been since April since I last posted on here?!?!?

Well, I missed you guys and writing on here, so I'm back! School starts once again for me next Monday and I can't wait for the semester to begin. This semester in nursing school I get to enter into baby and lady-land. Throughout the semester I will be rotating throughout pediatrics, labor & delivery and all things baby. I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little nervous....I never babysat as a kid and holding other people's children kinda freak me out because I'm scared that I might break them.

During this summer I got floated to the pediatrics unit at St. V's and the nurse asked me to change a diaper and I kinda freaked. I looked at her and said, "I can change a 60 year old man's diaper like no problem...but with a baby, I have no idea what I'm doing." She stared at me for a moment, giggled and then showed me how to change the baby. Let me tell you what...much easier than a 60 year old man! LOL. So if you need anyone from age 0-100 that needs a diaper change...I'm your gal!

Other things this summer that have occurred besides working at the hospital is that I've done tons of wedding planning! (girly squeal!) The cater and florist are booked. Centerpieces are planned and bought. The only thing on my list to check off  is finding a DJ for the wedding. I have some ideas, so all I need to do is visit and listen to them. Then that can be checked off the list too!

So many ideas! Let the decorating begin!

When it comes to food and cooking, I haven't really been doing anything too exciting on my own. I've actually been planning out my menu's a week in advanced each week and most of the recipes have been coming from some of my favorite blogs. Here are a few of my favorite summer recipes....
